About Us

Girlgear was born as a result of "Les Marin Girls", aka Ann & Jan, extended cycling tour of France and Spain in 1999. (that's us in the photo in the pretty wine village of Bourg in France).

This was our millennium challenge - to cycle the length of France and Spain and see how far south we could ride. We reached Cape Trafalgar in Southern Spain and learnt a lot about ourselves en route . It was a true "adventure" and we could not have completed it without the support of our families, friends and colleagues.

We live on a small island which is attractive but has limited touring possibilities. So we take every opportunity to get away to Europe with our cycles to find some open countryside, sample the regional produce and visit some interesting places.

We believe cycle touring is all about having fun, sharing experiences and the freedom of the open road.
